Douglas Park School Grand Opening in the news.

Douglas Park School Grand Opening in the news.

On Monday, September 17, 2012, Regina Public Schools celebrated the Grand Opening of the new Douglas Park School.

Participating in the event were the Honourable Russ Marchuk, Minister of Education; Katherine Gagne, Chair, Regina Board of Education; Director of Education, Julie MacRae, as well as current and former trustees, government and school division representatives. Community members and all school staff and students also participated in the event.

The school that was designed with significant community consultation includes a variety of spaces appropriate to the Personal Learning Community age groups and different developmental needs of students. There was a strong interest in bringing the outdoors into the interior of the school and establishing a green signature or identity for the school and linking it to its Douglas Park setting. Reflecting this link to the outdoor environment, the school was designed to LEEDS Silver certification. Architects for the building were Number TEN.
